Humanitarian considerations again used as ‘a shield to protect Houthis’, Yemen rivals say السبت 21 نوفمبر 2020 11:37 م الصحوة نت - خاص By Abdusalam Al-Qodari 2020-11-21 All rival factions in Yemen, save the Houthis of course, say the humanitarian considerations are being used again by the UN “as a shield to protect the Houthis” from something, this time from their over-deserved designation as a terrorist organization by the outgoing US administration.
The Yemeni state-run news agency (Saba) quoted the Information Minister on Friday as saying, “tying the designation of the Houthi militia as a terror organization to the hopes of a peaceful solution of the Yemeni crisis is no accurate.
” “The Houthi militia have obstructed, over the past six years, all the peace efforts of the international community and … stayed the course of spreading chaos and terrorism.
” In a story headlined as “Humanitarian Crisis Surfaces as “a Shield to protect Houthis,” Yafe’a News, a website affiliate to the anti-government Southern Transitional Council, quoted ‘Yemeni political sources’ as expressing, “Surprise over the presented [western] concerns.
” The sources said, “The use of humanitarian considerations to shield the Houthis from accountability to the international law has become a cliché” reused in all times where the Houthi militia face high stakes.
